The Guntersville Getaway is a private water front home that was built in 1958, but was ahead of its time with a spacious floor plan and larger bedrooms for the era. There are 3 bedrooms; each has a television set, DVD player, telephone and ceiling to floor windows to take advantage of the lake view. Cell phone service is readily available as well. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and adjoining bathroom. Across the house and down the hall is the middle bedroom, which has a full sized bed and the bathroom is right across the hall. The bunk room is perfect for children or larger groups. It is a large room with two sets of bunk beds and one twin sized bed for a total of 5 beds.

We kept some of the old world charm. For example, many of the children ask their parents, “What is this?” when they see the rotary dial telephone. The living area has a large television set and DVD player with premium cable and comfortable seating. The dining room table sits seven or eight and the bar seats three.

The kitchen was remodeled in 2009 with a new refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and granite counter tops. The kitchen has a starter set of garbage bags and paper towels. It has plentifully pots and pans, eating utensils, and glasses. It has a coffee maker, toaster oven, and microwave.

The bathrooms are decorated in a cute cabin theme. Each has a shower and they are small (What are you doing hanging out in the bathroom anyway, go out and hang out by the water!).

Linens such as towels and sheets are provided. We also provide a starter set of goods; toilet paper, tissue, paper towels, bar soap, liquid soap, dish soap, dish detergent and laundry soap. The laundry room has a full sized washer and dryer.

There is a large patio which has a charcoal grill and ample patio furniture with cushions.

There is a large pier with electricity and room for several boats. The water is 4 to 6 feet deep usually, even in drought conditions. Guests do not have access to the boat house itself, just the pier. The walk to the water is a nice gentle slope rather than a killer hike.
